Doctors for Developing Countries - Projects
Since its foundation the non-profit organization has realised over 3,800 nonpaid missions in the so called developing countries. About 2,100 doctors have been travelling these countries to treat patients, inoculate children and to run infirmaries.
The committee currently has nine projects on the Philippines, in India, Bangladesh, Kenia and Nicaragua. These projects are supported by two to eight doctors on the spot.
All doctors work without payment and support the projects during their annual vacation. Besides that they pay a fee which at least accounts for half the flight costs.
Regine Sixt Children's Aid Association supports these projects with „Rolling Clinics“. Vehicles are made available and converted into mobile medical offices. They provide that the doctors are able to reach their patients at the most faraway places.
